About This Position
We are looking for an energetic, dedicated, and team-oriented Accounting Senior Associate. As an Accounting Senior Associate to join the Accounting Policy, Trust Fund, and Pension Reporting Group (ACC/PTR) within the Finance Department, under the Vice Presidency for Finance and Administration.
The ACC/PTR team is responsible for the financial reporting and related internal controls of all donor trust fund resources under the Bank’s administration, including the IDB Lab and the Bank-sponsored benefit plans and programs, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting policies and standards by the Bank and all the other reporting entities under its administration.
What You’ll Do
- Support the monitoring and assessment of accounting, financial reporting, and disclosure requirements issued by relevant standard setters and regulators, including the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and relevant international standard-setting bodies, as applicable.
- Assist in evaluating the potential accounting and financial reporting impact of newly issued or proposed standards, as well as new products, instruments and emerging market practice.
- Contribute to the implementation of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, financial products, and business initiatives by performing technical accounting research, identifying process and control implications, and documenting conclusions in accounting policy memoranda and manuals, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders across the Bank.
- Support the maintenance and continuous update of the Bank’s accounting policy documentation, manuals, guidance notes, and other technical reference materials to ensure alignment with applicable standards and internal requirements.
- Assist in the review of quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures for compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Support the financial reporting process for the Bank’s portfolio of benefit plans and trust funds, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, disclosures, reconciliations, and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards, donor requirements, and established procedures.
- Assist in the performance, documentation, and evaluation of controls over the financial reporting process of benefit plans and trust funds, contributing to the effectiveness of the Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework.
- Support the annual external audit process for benefit plans and trust funds, including preparation of audit schedules, coordination of supporting documentation, and timely follow-up on auditor requests.
- Contribute to identifying process improvement opportunities and support the development and implementation of enhanced procedures, templates, and reporting tools to improve efficiency and data quality in financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to obtain, validate, and analyze financial data required for reporting, analysis, and decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
