About This Position
We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking Learning & Knowledge Associate to join our team. In this role, you will help boost institutional capacity across the IDB Group and among policymakers, project implementers, and other key stakeholders. You will drive the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative learning solutions that strengthen institutional capacities and help Latin America and the Caribbean address their most pressing development challenges.
You will join the Knowledge and Learning Division, which delivers learning solutions to strengthen the capacities of development actors in Latin America and the Caribbean, including IDB staff. These learning solutions create value by strengthening institutional capacities, informing public policy decisions, and enhancing the design and implementation of development programs.
Through IDBAcademy, IDB offers tailored and practical learning solutions for external audiences, built on the knowledge, experience, and continuous learning of the IDB Group. These solutions help implement the priorities of the IDB and its member countries, improving the quality and impact of development initiatives across the Region.
To achieve these goals, we rely on a multidisciplinary team with deep expertise in instructional design, adult learning, and capacity building for development recognized for its reliability, quality, and commitment, as well as a network of strategic partnerships that extend our reach.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain strategic dialogue, collaboration, and partnerships with IDB sectors, country office teams, multilateral development banks, academia, private-sector partners, think tanks, NGOs, and other key stakeholders to leverage expertise, knowledge, and resources across institutions and expand the reach, effectiveness, and impact of capacity-building initiatives for the benefit of Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Serve as a strategic partner to operational, sectoral, and corporate teams by aligning learning solutions with the IDB Group’s Institutional Strategy, strengthening organizational capabilities, and contributing to sustainable development outcomes.
- Guide and oversee innovative and strategic learning programs across the IDB Group, ensuring effective program delivery, stakeholder coordination, resource management, and the achievement of measurable development outcomes.
- Leverage the IDB Group's technical knowledge, operational evidence, and institutional experience to inform the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning solutions that strengthen institutional capacities and support evidence-based decision-making and institutional effectiveness.
- Conduct learning needs assessments and audience analyses to identify capability gaps and define learning objectives, content structures, and instructional approaches that support institutional priorities and capability development.
- Guide the pedagogical design of applied learning experiences across virtual, hybrid, and in-person modalities, ensuring alignment with IDB Group priorities, adult learning principles, audience needs, and opportunities for personalization, scale, and measurable impact.
- Translate complex technical knowledge and operational experience into accessible, relevant, and actionable learning solutions that promote knowledge exchange, transfer, and application.
- Identify, evaluate, and apply AI and emerging technologies to enhance the effectiveness, personalization, scalability, and innovation of learning solutions across the IDB Group and the region.
- Design, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve learning solutions by assessing learning outcomes, capability development, and organizational impact to enhance development effectiveness.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
