Waste & Cleansing Operatives – Cleansing Team

2 x 37 Hrs Monday – Thursday

This vacancy is only available for applications from existing Internal Plymouth City Council employees and Agency Workers who are in an active placement and have 12 weeks continuous service. Applications submitted by External candidates who do not meet this criteria will not be considered and will be rejected.

Plymouth City Council is looking for motivated and reliable Waste & Cleansing Operatives to join our frontline Cleansing Team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for residents, businesses, and visitors across the city.

As a Waste & Cleansing Operative, you will undertake a variety of operational duties including:

  • Street cleansing and environmental maintenance activities.
  • Weed removal and graffiti removal.
  • Emptying litter bins and maintaining public spaces.
  • Removing fly-tipped waste and cleaning up spillages.
  • Ensuring all areas are left clean, safe, and tidy.
  • Reporting operational issues and health and safety concerns.
  • Providing excellent customer service and engaging positively with members of the public.
  • Using equipment and machinery safely and effectively in accordance with training, procedures, and health and safety requirements.

You will be committed to delivering excellent public services and taking pride in your work. We are looking for individuals who have experience of labouring and physically demanding manual work, understand the importance of health and safety in an operational environment, are dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team that takes pride in helping to keep Plymouth clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

A driving licence would be desirable but not essential.
