About The Role:
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, but will most likely work a few weekends, as per business needs.
Working within the Waste and Recycling department at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, the aim of the role is to keep the resort clean & clear of all waste streams, driving & towing of bins, silo bin rotations, and to provide silo bins, for disposal of waste. Waste & Recycling team to provide empty silo bins in dedicated waste areas; to sort waste into different compactors, bailers, skips, cages, and drums.
To maximize recycling rates, and ensure Waste & Recycling driver are safely disposing of waste items. To ensure all 3rd party waste contractors have collected waste safely from resort and removal process works around the resort’s operational needs. To manage and mentor waste drivers in their role, and assist in all training, sickness, and absence management. To sign, store, and track all Annual Waste Transfer Notes from 3rd party contractors, to support the Zoo team with waste removal for Zoo licenses & inspections, and provide AWTN’s on request when needed. To support and supply AWTN’s to Leisure club manager on request for Leisure club licenses & inspections. To supply Zoo management with AWTN’s upon request for licenses & inspections To ensure AWTN’s have been signed upon request annually To ensure all waste is collected and disposed of in the correct manner with the support from 3rd party contractors To assign workload, and PPMs to team, and conduct department audits where needed To be a safety representative and feedback on any safety-related issues To assist with the removal of waste across the whole resort To use OCS-Q with the removal of waste across the resort Ensure all tasks are undertaken in a safe manner, always enforcing Health and Safety policies and procedures To work with other departments on resort, with the waste removal of items and assign to team on removal procedures To assist in the safe and effective operation of Waste & Recycling team, always focusing on waste management, recycling, bin rotation & sortation To increase site recycling rates, targets & strategy To assist & manage the day-to-day running of the Waste & Recycling department Oversee/ ensure effective disposal of all waste streams across the resort

Key Accountabilities
- To support the Head of Facilities by leading direct reports and team in safe delivery and managing agreed standards and strategic direction
- To manage & mentor Waste & Recycling driving team, managing team with sickness, absence & holiday requests
- To manage & mentor Waste & Recycling Team leader/s
- To ensure waste has been booked in with 3rd party contractors for removal
- To ensure all tasks, jobs, and PPMs have been assigned to waste team, and completed within time scales
- To remove all waste from across the resort, and from within the four zones, including park, service road, and hotels
- Driving company vehicles to remove waste streams and supply bin rotation to waste areas
- Safe use of compactors, bailers, and safe use of skips, cages, and drums
- To keep waste areas, clean and clear of all waste streams, and items deemed as was
- Forklift License only – movement of cardboard bails, cages, and forklift to dedicated waste collection areas
- To ensure all waste bins are in fit working condition, and to provide bins to resort
- Manage & promote the compliance of and adherence to all health & safety and COSHH procedures and protocols in line with legal and company requirements and/or any future succeeding guidance and legislation
- To Provide Personal Protective Equipment to Waste & Recycling, to carry out workload safely
- To ensure all waste compactors, bailers have been serviced, and booked in for repairs when required
- To ensure all waste vehicles have been serviced, and booked in for repairs when required
- To provide the correct tools and equipment is supplied and fit for purpose
- Support the Broader Resort Operation in the delivery of the company’s business objectives
- Have a flexible approach to working hours, to include weekends and public holidays as deemed necessary
Qualifications / Experience
Whilst we do not require any formal Qualifications or experience for this role, the following would be desirable.
- Full UK driving license
- Good understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, forms
- Good understanding of the use of tablets, laptops
- Applications with a forklift license or telehandler license would benefit the department role but not essential.
- Waste department training will be given, including department induction, first aid medical, and OCS Academy training
