Role Description

The Waste and Recycling Services Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for overseeing daily waste collection, recycling operations, and service delivery. This role manages staff schedules, supervises field teams, and ensures services meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The manager monitors performance metrics, resolves operational issues, and coordinates with customers, local authorities, and suppliers to maintain high service quality. Responsibilities include optimizing routes and processes, preparing reports, handling incident and complaint resolution, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role also involves contributing to budget planning, cost control, and implementing best practices in waste reduction and recycling.

  • Experience in waste management, recycling services, or utilities operations, with strong knowledge of relevant environmental and health & safety regulations.
  • Proven people management skills, including team supervision, performance monitoring, and workforce scheduling in an operational environment.
  • Solid organizational and planning abilities, with experience in process improvement, route optimization, and service delivery coordination.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with clients, suppliers, and public-sector stakeholders.
  • Competence in using office productivity tools and basic data analysis for reporting (e.g., spreadsheets, route management systems, or CRM tools).
  • Ability to work on-site in London and in close collaboration with field teams, including occasional early starts or flexible hours as required.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or a degree in environmental management, logistics, operations, or a related field are beneficial.
  • Experience with risk assessments, incident reporting, and compliance audits in an operational setting is an advantage.
