Role Description
The Waste and Recycling Services Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for overseeing daily waste collection, recycling operations, and service delivery. The role includes planning and scheduling routes, coordinating with collection crews, and monitoring performance to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local regulations. The manager will liaise with commercial and residential customers, address service issues, and support contract obligations.

- Maintaining accurate operational records
- Monitoring recycling targets
- Ensuring vehicles and equipment are used appropriately
- Enforcing health and safety procedures
The role requires close collaboration with senior management to optimize processes, control costs, implement improvement initiatives, and support staff training and development.
Qualifications
- Experience in waste management, recycling services, or utilities operations, with the ability to oversee day-to-day field activities and service delivery.
- Skills in operations planning and scheduling, including route optimization, resource allocation, and workload prioritization.
- Strong health, safety, and compliance knowledge, including familiarity with UK environmental and waste regulations and safe working practices.
- Customer service and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and resolve operational issues.
- Team leadership capabilities, including supervising staff, supporting performance management, and fostering a respectful, inclusive work environment.
- Competence in using basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, scheduling tools) and maintaining accurate operational records and reports.
- Relevant vocational or academic qualifications in waste management, environmental services, logistics, or a related field are beneficial.
- Prior experience in a supervisory role within transport, logistics, facilities, or public services is an advantage.
