Are you passionate about keeping Plymouth clean, safe, and looking its best? Do you enjoy working outdoors, supporting your colleagues, and making a visible difference in your community every day?

Plymouth City Council is seeking a committed and professional LGV Driver to join our Cleansing Department and help deliver the essential frontline services that keep our city clean, safe, and sustainable. We are looking for experienced drivers who take pride in their work, thrive as part of a team, and are dedicated to providing an excellent service to local residents and businesses. This is an opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining the city's environment, supporting local communities, and ensuring Plymouth remains a clean, safe, and welcoming place for everyone.

About the Role

As part of our Cleansing Service, you will operate a range of specialist vehicles, including large mechanical sweepers and refuse vehicles used in the collection and transportation of litter bin waste. You will be responsible for operating these vehicles safely and efficiently, in accordance with relevant legislation, health and safety requirements, and Council procedures, while ensuring the wellbeing of colleagues, members of the public, and other road users at all times.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
