About the Opportunity

The Decommissioning Alliance (TDA) is a strategic partnership, operating within the DNWP framework and delivering critical decommissioning work at Sellafield, including the UK’s most challenging Legacy Ponds facilities. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant Solid Waste Coordinator to support eight work packages within the Retrievals East River Projects programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating waste management activities, maintaining waste records on the WETAS system, and working closely with the Project Waste Engineer and Sellafield Waste Advisor to ensure compliant and efficient waste management solutions.

The role will support multidisciplinary teams delivering waste removal and replacement activities in both active and non-active plant areas, while providing specialist waste management advice throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Plant Solid Waste Coordinator across eight project work packages.
  • Upload and maintain waste records within WETAS.
  • Liaise with Project Waste Engineers, Sellafield Waste Advisors, and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate waste packaging, transport, treatment, and disposal activities.
  • Provide technical waste management advice to project teams.
  • Support the development and review of waste management documentation and justifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Sellafield waste management arrangements, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for waste minimisation and disposal route optimisation.

Here's What You'll Need:

Essential Requirements

  • Current Plant Solid Waste Coordinator SQEP.
  • Experience in nuclear waste management projects within the Sellafield environment.
  • Knowledge of radioactive waste packaging, transport, and disposability assessment processes.
  • Strong understanding of Sellafield waste management procedures, routes, and governance.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Ability to provide practical, informed waste management advice.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical writing skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Plant-based operational experience within nuclear facilities.
  • Ability to identify innovative and pragmatic waste solutions.
  • Strong understanding of waste hierarchy principles, including waste minimisation, segregation, characterisation, treatment, and disposal optimisation.
  • Experience supporting decommissioning or retrievals projects within the nuclear sector.
