Waste Data Officer – 1 Month Contract
Location: Coventry (City Wide)
Rate: £19.55 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Temporary (1 Month)
Pay: Bi-weekly
Desirable Requirement:
- Previous local authority or council experience is highly desirable
- Experience within Waste Services, Recycling, Environmental Services, or Performance & Data functions is advantageous
Summary
This temporary 1-month contract role is crucial for providing performance, data, and administrative support to the Domestic Waste Team, ensuring service data compliance and reporting accuracy. The Waste Data Officer will coordinate Waste Support Assistants, maintain performance reporting systems, assist with statutory returns, and contribute to the effective delivery of waste and recycling services across Coventry.
Responsibilities
Performance Monitoring & Data Management
- Develop and maintain management information systems for service performance reporting.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including Waste Data Flow and Environment Agency submissions.
- Collate, analyze, and report performance information for stakeholders.
- Produce performance reports, dashboards, and management information.
Compliance & Reporting
- Support compliance with waste and recycling legislation and reporting requirements.
- Monitor service performance and identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Ensure accurate data collection, validation, and reporting processes.
Contract & Service Support
- Provide statistical information to support contract administration and procurement activities.
- Support performance monitoring of waste service contracts.
- Assist with service improvement initiatives through analysis and reporting.

Complaints, FOI & Customer Service
- Coordinate responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
- Assist with complaints related to household waste, recycling centers, bin deliveries, and bulky waste services.
- Ensure enquiries are handled accurately and within agreed timescales.
Financial Administration
- Support budget monitoring and financial administration processes.
- Assist with financial inputs relating to residential and commercial waste services.
- Maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements.
Team Support & Coordination
- Support and coordinate Waste Support Assistants within the service.
- Assist with workload allocation and service delivery monitoring.
- Promote compliance with Council policies and procedures.
Health & Safety
- Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety.
- Support safe working practices and compliance with relevant legislation.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent Waste Services and the Performance Data Team at meetings when required.
- Liaise with contractors, partners, council departments, and elected members.
- Build positive working relationships to support effective service delivery.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of waste management and recycling services.
- Understanding of waste industry legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of public sector service delivery.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements.
- Good understanding of GDPR and data protection requirements.

Experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
- Experience using IT systems and software packages for reporting and administration.
- Experience compiling, analyzing, and reporting data.
- Experience handling enquiries, complaints, or service requests.
- Desirable: Previous experience in a local authority or council environment, and within Waste Services, Recycling Services, Environmental Services, or Performance Teams.

- Rate: £19.55 per hour (Umbrella)
- Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis
