2 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

To support Coventry City Council’s Waste Services Department with the safe and efficient delivery of food waste bins and associated materials to residential properties across Coventry. The role combines light vehicle driving, manual handling and customer service, ensuring deliveries are completed accurately, safely and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a 3.5-tonne light goods vehicle safely and responsibly.
  • Deliver food waste bins and associated materials to residential properties across Coventry.
  • Load, unload and manually handle bins throughout the working day.
  • Follow planned delivery routes and schedules.
  • Complete delivery records accurately.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
  • Ensure delivery targets and schedules are met efficiently.
  • Maintain a professional and helpful approach when interacting with residents.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and manual handling requirements.
  • Support the Waste Services team with other operational duties as required.

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence suitable for driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Aged 18 years or over.
  • Physically fit and able to undertake regular manual handling duties.
  • Reliable, punctual and responsible.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous delivery driving experience is desirable.
  • Experience in waste services, logistics or a similar operational environment is desirable.

Additional Information

  • Location: Whitley Depot, Coventry, CV3 4AR
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours per day and Friday 7 hours per day. Start time 7:30am, with a 30-minute unpaid break daily.
  • Pay: Paid bi-weekly.
