Waste Manager - DSTL, Wiltshire
Lead Safe, Efficient Waste Management Operations
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Waste Manager to oversee waste management services across our DSTL sites. You'll play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality service delivery while leading and developing a dedicated team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong people manager with operational waste management experience who is passionate about safety, continuous improvement, and customer service.
What You'll Be Doing
- Champion a strong Health, Safety and Environmental culture.
- Manage day-to-day waste management operations across multiple sites.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, company policies, and service agreements.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the Waste Management team.
- Manage staffing, rotas, timesheets, return-to-work interviews, and investigations.
- Oversee contractor performance and service delivery.
- Control labour, equipment, and operational budgets.
- Drive improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and cost control.
- Build positive client relationships and identify opportunities for service enhancement.
- Attend site visits, meetings, and training as required.

What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience managing waste operations within a commercial environment.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and waste management legislation.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Good IT, numerical, and reporting skills.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Flexibility to travel and attend off-site meetings.
- CIWM Level 4 (or equivalent) is desirable.
