Aureos are seeking a Waste Manager to join our project in Dungeness. The Waste Manager is responsible for overseeing all waste management activities across the organisation, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, optimising waste processes, and driving sustainable practices. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of waste materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Waste Strategy & Planning — Develop and implement waste management strategies aligned with environmental and operational goals.
  • Compliance & Legislation — Ensure full compliance with UK waste regulations, Duty of Care, and environmental permits.
  • Operational Management — Oversee daily waste operations including segregation, storage, collection, and disposal.
  • Contractor & Supplier Management — Manage relationships with waste carriers, recycling partners, and disposal contractors.
  • Data & Reporting — Maintain accurate waste records, produce reports, and track KPIs such as recycling rates and landfill diversion.
  • Environmental Improvement — Identify opportunities to reduce waste, increase recycling, and improve sustainability performance.
  • Risk & Safety Management — Ensure safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, conduct audits, and maintain compliance with H&S standards.
  • Budget & Cost Control — Manage waste budgets, monitor spend, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Training & Awareness — Deliver training to staff on waste segregation, environmental responsibilities, and safe disposal practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration — Work closely with operations, engineering, facilities, and environmental teams to support organisational goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in waste management, environmental services, facilities, utilities, or industrial operations
  • Strong knowledge of UK waste legislation, including Duty of Care, hazardous waste regulations, and waste carrier requirements
  • Experience managing waste contractors and service providers
  • Understanding of environmental management systems (ISO 14001 desirable)
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in reporting tools and waste-tracking systems
