Role Overview
Thirteen Group is on the lookout for a Waste Operative to join our specialist team. You’ll be based full time from our state-of-the-art site Recycling Centre in Billingham, with some travel to locations across the Tees Valley.
As part of a small team, you’ll support the delivery of our waste transfer, recycling and in-house waste management services. Our overall aim is to reduce waste, increase recycling and divert waste from landfill.

- Manual handling duties to assist with the collection, sorting and disposal of waste and materials.
- Quality checking to improve the amount and quality of materials sent for recycling.
- Carry out housekeeping duties on site.
- Complete a range of general semi-skilled works such as operating the weighbridge.
- Ensure that the site operates in line with policies, procedures, environmental, and health and safety legislation.
About You
If you’ve worked in the waste industry or in a frontline at a waste transfer site, that would be a plus! Experience of operating specialist equipment such as a telehandler and commercial weighbridge would be an advantage, but training will be provided. A commitment to safe working practices and a good grasp of health and safety regulations. Someone who shares our passion for improving our environmental performance.
