The Role
Join Hampshire County Council's Waste and Resource Management team as one of two Waste Projects Officers, helping to improve waste and recycling services for residents while supporting environmental outcomes and resource efficiency across the county.
These are varied roles offering the opportunity to work across a range of service areas including project delivery, service improvement, site visits to waste management sites, customer service, data reporting, and operational support.
Working as part of the Universal Services Waste and Resource Management Team, the post-holder will support the delivery and continuous improvement of a range of waste management services across Hampshire. The role will provide operational, administrative, and project support across multiple service areas, helping to ensure services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with organisational priorities.
The post-holder will be an integral member of the Waste and Resource Management team, working closely with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to support waste management operations (including Household Waste Recycling Centres), customer service activities, data management, service monitoring, and business improvement initiatives. The role will contribute to the development and maintenance of processes, guidance, records, and performance information, while supporting the delivery of both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects.

What you’ll do
As a Waste Projects Officer, you will be expected to work with a degree of autonomy, managing a varied workload and responding flexibly to changing business priorities. The role will involve analysing information, undertaking investigations, coordinating activities across different workstreams, supporting compliance and monitoring requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
You will be a proactive and adaptable team member, capable of building effective working relationships and providing support required across Waste and Resource Management services.
Working closely with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders, you will help ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively, while contributing to projects and initiatives that support the future development of waste and resource management services across Hampshire. No two days are likely to be the same, with work ranging from resolving day-to-day operational issues to supporting longer-term business improvement activities.
