Department
Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company, specializes in multiple divisions.
Welsh Water works closely with operational and delivery teams to support the maintenance, improvement, and resilience of water and wastewater infrastructure across Wales and surrounding regions.
The team delivers essential projects that enhance network performance, improve water and wastewater treatment facilities, and protect the environment, helping to provide reliable services for customers and communities while supporting long-term sustainability.
Purpose of the Role
The role available will be working from the Ellesmere Port WWTW alongside a United Utilities Customer Support Technician, where you will be required to work on the Bucket 1 reactive contract solving problems on the sewer network. This role will be on a shift-based pattern with working times of 8am to 6pm front shift and 12pm to 10pm back shift. Weekends and Bank Holidays are included.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be working closely with a CST (UU Operative) to clean, camera and carry out sewer investigations as directed by United Utilities
- Attending to customers, informing them of works to be carried out and answering any concerns as well as timescales
- Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could hinder water flow
- Carry out all aspects of high-pressure water jetting
- Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems
- Carry out CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers
- Competent in using an electronic device - laptop / tablet for data entry purposes
- Ensuring safety issues are reported in line with company procedures
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high-pressure water jetting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order

Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Class 2 HGV licence with no more than 6 points.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the confidence to explain works, timescales, and answer customer queries professionally
- Competent in the use of laptops, tablets, and digital systems for recording job information and completing reports
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and the ability to identify and report safety concerns in line with company procedures
- Ability to carry out routine equipment checks, maintenance, and servicing to ensure operational readiness
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including working alongside a CST (United Utilities Operative)
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in varying environments
Desirable
- Ability to operate high-pressure water jetting equipment safely and effectively
- Experience carrying out drainage investigations and identifying blockages, defects, leaks, and other drainage issues
- Knowledge of CCTV drainage inspections and the ability to assess pipe and sewer conditions.
