At mua Group, we’re both an independent distribution network operator (IDNO) for electricity and an independent gas transporter (IGT) for gas. We don’t own the gas or electricity, but we collect a fee from the energy supplier for safely and reliably delivering their gas and electricity to homes and businesses through our pipes and cables.
We’re also a regulated water and wastewater company, adopting water and wastewater networks across Britain.
We’re looking for a Wastewater Site Inspector to join our Operations team. You’ll be working closely with our developers and contractors to ensure wastewater infrastructure is installed to adoptable standards and in line with approved designs. You’ll carry out inspections at key stages, identify and report defects, and oversee their resolution to ensure full compliance and quality delivery.
This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working on site, has a strong eye for detail, and is committed to delivering high standards in wastewater projects.
We're a remote team, based across England, Scotland and Wales. This is a hybrid role – you'll be based at home, but will be travelling to visit our projects across the Midlands and the south of England multiple times a week.
Role Responsibilities
As our Wastewater Site Inspector, you’ll be responsible for:
- Ensuring the wastewater networks we adopt are constructed in accordance with approved drawings, and to Design and Construction Guidance
- Attending pre-construction site meetings with developers, site agents and SLPs
- Planning and independently managing your own site inspection programme to ensure that all construction sites are monitored to the appropriate standard
- Assisting and advising the developer on engineering solutions during network construction
- Witnessing the air test/pressure test of wastewater networks and pressure pipes, ensuring they comply with the Design and Construction Guidance requirements
- Accurately reporting and identifying any remediation work
- Maintaining effective electronic site records for all site inspections

You’ll also become part of our out-of-hours standby team, dispatching emergency response teams to resolve faults across our water networks.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
For this role, you’ll need comprehensive knowledge of the design and installation of wastewater networks.
We’re looking for a candidate who can build and maintain effective working relationships with developers and contractors. You’ll have strong attention to detail, and you’ll be able confidently and competently manage site records.
You’ll also have:
- Good knowledge of the Sewers for Adoption (SfA) standards and Design and Construction Guidance (DCG) requirements.
- Experience in drainage infrastructure construction and adoption processes
- Ability to inspect gravity sewers, rising mains, manholes, pumping stations and associated structures
- Knowledge of testing requirements such as air and water testing, CCTV inspections, and pumping station commissioning
- Understanding of health and safety requirements, including confined spaces
- A full, valid UK driving licence
We’re most interested in your skills and your previous experience at a water company or in the construction industry. Although it’s not essential, it would be useful to have:

- Understanding of NAV adoption requirements and asset vesting processes
- Knowledge of wastewater pumping stations
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering
- CSCS card
