Water Hygiene & Plumbing Engineer

Permanent | Full Time

Salary: £45,000 - £49,000

Hours: 8am - 5pm | Mon-Fri + On-Call 1 in 4 weeks + Overtime Projects

Location: Westminster (King Charles Street, SW1A 2AH)

We're looking for a Water Hygiene & Plumbing Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting the management and compliance of 3 historic government buildings in Westminster.

This is a specialist role where water hygiene and compliance are your primary focus, with plumbing duties centred around remedial works identified through planned maintenance and water hygiene inspections. If you enjoy working in a technically compliant environment and take pride in maintaining accurate records, this could be the perfect opportunity.

You'll be responsible for delivering all scheduled water hygiene activities across the portfolio, ensuring compliance with current legislation and best practice while maintaining the integrity of critical building water systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver all planned water hygiene tasks across three government buildings.
  • Keep compliance documentation and water hygiene logbooks fully up to date, ensuring accurate record keeping at all times.
  • Carry out cold water storage tank inspections and associated maintenance.
  • Complete temperature monitoring, outlet flushing, shower head cleaning and descaling.
  • Support water treatment programmes and assist with water sampling where required.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on domestic water systems.
  • Complete plumbing remedial works identified through inspections and compliance reports.
  • Maintain hot and cold-water services, valves, TMVs, pumps, pipework and associated equipment.
  • Support statutory compliance in line with ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidance.
  • Respond to reactive plumbing issues where required.

What We're Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent).
  • L8 Legionella qualification with practical water hygiene experience.
  • Experience carrying out water hygiene tasks within commercial or public sector buildings.
  • Strong understanding of ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidance.
  • Experience inspecting water systems, storage tanks and completing water treatment-related activities.
  • Good plumbing experience, particularly carrying out remedial works and repairs.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate compliance records and logbooks.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC). Successful candidates can start following BPSS clearance, with SC processed thereafter.
  • UK Driver’s License (access to pool van while on-call)
