Location: Imperial College London – South Kensington, White City and Hammersmith campuses
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00
About The Role
Dalkia UK is looking for an experienced Water Hygiene Technician to join our team at Imperial College London. Reporting to the Water Hygiene Supervisor, you'll deliver water hygiene and treatment services across a large, complex academic estate, with a particular focus on cooling tower compliance and maintenance.
You'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance across cooling towers, domestic hot and cold water systems, and closed water systems. Working independently and alongside a small team, you'll maintain accurate records, resolve technical issues and provide practical guidance to our Water Hygiene Apprentice.
You'll be supporting a university through the delivery of safe, compliant and well-maintained learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete cooling tower maintenance, including sampling three times per week, cleaning, disinfection and chemical dosing in accordance with site Written Schemes.
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive works across water systems, including temperature monitoring, flushing, sampling, outlet cleaning and chemical testing.
- Interpret laboratory results and sampling trends, adjust treatment where required, and identify and resolve defects, risks or non-compliance.
- Maintain accurate CAFM records, water hygiene logbooks and compliance documentation to support audits and inspections.
- Liaise with specialist contractors, coordinating access, permits and risk assessments and method statements, while ensuring work meets safety and technical standards.
- Allocate and oversee apprentice tasks, providing coaching and technical guidance to support safe working and timely completion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
