About Enviroliance
Enviroliance is an established, privately owned specialist water hygiene, Legionella compliance and building services company, operating across the UK since 2004. We work with clients across a wide range of commercial and public-sector environments, providing practical compliance support, planned monitoring programmes, sampling, remedial works and specialist water hygiene services. We are looking for an experienced and reliable Water Hygiene Technician to join our Scotland-based team.
The Role
This is a practical, site-based role carrying out planned water hygiene and Legionella control services at client premises. You will primarily work across Scotland, although occasional UK-wide travel, overnight stays and out-of-hours/weekend work may be required depending on client requirements. The role involves working independently for much of the time, so we are looking for someone who is organised, dependable, comfortable dealing directly with clients and capable of maintaining a consistently high standard of work and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out hot and cold water temperature monitoring and other routine water-system monitoring in accordance with relevant guidance, including ACOP L8, HSG274, HTM 04-01 and SHTM 04-01.
- Undertake Legionella and microbiological water sampling, ensuring samples are correctly taken, labelled, recorded and handled.
- Carry out inspection, cleaning and disinfection of cold-water storage tanks.
- Carry out showerhead and hose cleaning, descaling and disinfection.
- Undertake TMV inspection, servicing and routine maintenance.
- Carry out flushing, outlet inspections and other planned water hygiene tasks.
- Inspect water-system components and identify defects, non-compliances or remedial requirements for escalation.
- Complete electronic job records, monitoring sheets, service reports and other compliance documentation accurately and on time.
- Liaise professionally with clients and site representatives and communicate any significant findings or concerns.
- Work safely in plant rooms, tank areas and other restricted-access locations and use ladders/access equipment where required.
- Support planned preventative maintenance programmes and other water hygiene works as required.
- Maintain company equipment, sampling equipment and vehicle to an appropriate standard.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
