Water Hygiene Technician

We are looking for an experienced Water Hygiene Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for carrying out planned water hygiene monitoring, sampling, and remedial activities at customer sites, ensuring compliance with current legislation, Approved Code of Practice (ACoP L8), HSG274 guidance, and company procedures. The role is responsible for helping clients maintain safe water systems and minimizing the risk of Legionella.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine water hygiene tasks across a variety of commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational sites.
  • Perform temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems.
  • Carry out water sampling in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Complete showerhead and TMV inspection, servicing, dismantling, descaling, and disinfection.
  • Undertake cold water storage tank inspections and cleans.
  • Flush little-used outlets and maintain accurate flushing records.
  • Carry out inspection and monitoring of water systems to identify potential compliance issues and risks.
  • Complete remedial works including valve replacements, outlet modifications, and minor plumbing repairs where qualified to do so.
  • Accurately complete site paperwork and electronic reports using tablets or handheld devices.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and site personnel, providing updates on completed works and any identified concerns.
  • Escalate non-conformances, defects, and compliance issues to management.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and risk assessments.

Skills And Experience

  • Previous experience working in a Water Hygiene Technician or similar role.
  • Good understanding of Legionella control measures and water hygiene services.
  • Knowledge of ACoP L8 and HSG274 guidance.
  • Experience carrying out temperature monitoring, water sampling, and showerhead servicing.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Competent in using mobile technology and Microsoft Office applications.
  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Legionella Control.
  • Experience carrying out remedial plumbing works.
  • Plumbing qualification (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Experience within healthcare, education, manufacturing, or commercial environments.
  • CSCS card
