Data Analysis and Technical Reporting

You will be confident working with hydrological, met-ocean, spatial and environmental data. You will be able to organise and quality-check information, identify trends or anomalies, interpret modelling results and present your findings clearly in reports, figures, tables and presentations. Strong attention to detail and the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences are important for this role.

Environmental Assessment and Sector Knowledge

You will contribute to projects in areas such as water quality assessment, environmental impact assessment, marine consenting, offshore renewable energy, coastal flood and erosion risk management and water environment management. Experience preparing Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Statement chapters or technical consenting documents would be advantageous.

Teamwork and Project Delivery

You will work collaboratively with environmental scientists, engineers, modellers, planners, GIS specialists, clients, regulators and other stakeholders. You will be able to manage agreed tasks, meet deadlines, respond to feedback and work independently under the guidance of senior staff. More experienced candidates may take responsibility for defined work packages and support the development of less experienced colleagues.

Digital Skills And Professional Development

You will be proficient in Microsoft Office and willing to develop your skills in relevant modelling, GIS, CAD, coding and data-management tools. Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MATLAB or Python would be beneficial. A commitment to continuing professional development and, where appropriate, progress towards professional membership or chartership is encouraged.

Mandatory Requirements

You will hold a degree in a relevant subject such as coastal science, oceanography, coastal or maritime engineering, engineering, geography, environmental science or a related discipline. You must demonstrate strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, good report-writing ability and proficiency in Microsoft Office. You should be able to work independently under the guidance of senior staff and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

Experience using MIKE, InfoWorks ICM, Deltares or equivalent modelling software would be beneficial. Experience in water quality, offshore energy, marine development, coastal flooding, erosion risk management or environmental assessment would also be advantageous. Professional membership, progress towards chartership, experience with ArcGIS or AutoCAD, and coding experience in MATLAB or Python would further strengthen your application.

Work Patterns and Locations

The position is based in a large, permanently desked office located on the edge of the city with on site parking, strong public transport connections and easy access to major road networks. The role supports hybrid working, with an expectation of two to three days per week in the office to facilitate mentoring, collaboration and team coordination. Flexible working arrangements can be accommodated where project responsibilities allow. The multi disciplinary environment provides exposure to a wide range of significant projects, including marine, coastal, regeneration and renewable related developments.
