Department: Operations

Reports to: UK Metering and Revenue Assurance Manager

Salary: up to £35K DOE

Location: This is a home-based, field-focused role covering Reading and the surrounding region. Regular travel to customer and operational sites will be required, and candidates should be comfortable supporting activities across a wider geographic area

The Opportunity

We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused Water Revenue Inspector to join our team, helping to protect water resources, improve billing accuracy and reduce revenue loss across our network.

This is a varied field-based role where no two days are the same. You'll investigate unusual consumption patterns, carry out customer visits, identify and resolve issues such as water waste and metering anomalies, and work closely with customers to find practical solutions. Your work will play a key role in balancing the network, protecting revenue, supporting regulatory compliance and delivering a great customer experience.

If you enjoy problem-solving, working independently and making a real impact, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape how we manage and protect one of our most valuable resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all scheduled and ad-hoc meter reads across manual, radio (AMR drive-by), and AMI meters
  • Conduct customer visits to investigate suspected behind-the-meter waste of water, assess the source and extent of the issue, record findings and evidence, explain required corrective actions to the customer, and escalate or refer unresolved matters through the appropriate company process
  • Perform boundary flow and pressure checks to support network balancing
  • Deploy and maintain monitoring technology (e.g. FIDO and other sensors)
  • Survey sites to collect information for new meter installations
  • Capture accurate field data to support billing, asset records, and audit trails
  • Ensure all inspections and activities are recorded in line with company systems and governance standards
  • Provide structured feedback to central Revenue Assurance and Asset teams
  • Support continuous improvement in data quality and system accuracy
  • Work from prioritised investigation lists based on risk, value, and operational need
  • Support proactive site surveys and targeted investigations aligned to revenue risk and network performance
  • Arrange and undertake customer appointments for behind-the-meter waste-of-water investigations, maintaining a professional, proportionate and customer-focused approach and accurately recording visit outcomes, agreed actions and follow-up requirements.
  • Liaise with customers, developers, and contractors during investigations and surveys
  • Support resolution of customer billing queries where linked to field findings

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
