I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Individual
We are looking for an accomplished distribution professional with a strong understanding of the UK wealth and intermediary marketplace. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a successful track record within business development, distribution or sales gained within one or more of the following: Wealth Management | Pensions | Investment Platforms | Investment Administration | Platform Services | Asset Management
Of particular interest will be individuals who have built their careers within the pensions and/or investment platform market, with an established network across UK financial advisers, wealth managers and other intermediary distribution channels. The Opportunity
This represents an excellent opportunity for an established pensions, platform or wealth distribution professional to join a business with significant ambitions in the UK market. Rather than simply inheriting an established sales territory, the successful individual will have the opportunity to help shape the distribution strategy, develop key relationships and play a central role in building the next stage of the business’s growth. The position would particularly suit someone who combines strong market connectivity, credibility with senior decision-makers and a demonstrable record of delivering commercial results within the UK wealth, pensions or platform sector.
