Wealth Planner - Director - Private Bank
An excellent opportunity has opened for an experienced Director Level Wealth Planner to join an International Private Bank. Working within the UK Wealth Planning team and in close partnership with Relationship Managers, you will provide sophisticated, holistic financial advice to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. You will help clients define what they want their wealth to achieve and develop appropriate long-term strategies for their personal, family and business circumstances.
This is a senior, client-facing advisory position requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to build trusted relationships with complex clients. Previous experience advising entrepreneurs, business owners or internationally connected clients would be particularly valuable, although it is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic, regulated financial advice to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
- Understand clients’ personal, financial, family and business circumstances and translate these into clear, bespoke financial plans.
- Advise across areas including retirement, investment, liquidity and cash-flow planning, wealth preservation and intergenerational wealth transfer.
- Support clients with complex estate and succession-planning requirements, working alongside appropriate legal, tax and structuring specialists.
- Guide entrepreneurs and business owners through significant financial events, including business growth, succession, sale and post-exit planning.
- Work closely with Relationship Managers, investment specialists and other areas of the Private Bank to deliver coordinated client solutions.
- Draw upon the Private Bank's international network when supporting clients with cross-border interests, globally located assets or family members in multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage the complete advice process, including discovery and fact-finding, analysis, recommendations, suitability documentation, implementation and ongoing review.
- Participate in client and prospect meetings, using wealth planning expertise to deepen relationships and support the acquisition and retention of client assets.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of relevant financial-planning, taxation and regulatory developments.
- Ensure all advice meets the Private Bank's internal standards and applicable FCA conduct, suitability and client-outcome requirements.
- Act as a senior technical resource, sharing expertise with Relationship Managers and colleagues across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
