Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships: Identify the clients' financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance.
  • Analysis of data: Support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement, and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding: Research and understand the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions: Design customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication: Communicate the value proposition of proposed solutions, justify recommendations, and negotiate terms beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Guidance to clients: Provide guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Risk assessment: Assess financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implement measures to minimize potential losses.
  • Documentation: Document all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring: Monitor client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

  • Advise and influence decision making: Contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate: Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.
  • Leadership: Lead a team performing complex tasks, using well-developed professional knowledge and skills to deliver on work that impacts the whole business function. Set objectives and coach employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraise performance relative to objectives, and determine reward outcomes.

  • Individual contributor: If the role is for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/or projects, identifying a combination of cross-functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consultation: Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Risk mitigation: Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Risk management: Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Collaboration: Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business-aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Analysis: Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practices (in other areas, teams, companies, etc.) to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communication: Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence: Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

About the Role

This role is part of our Wealth Management Business, a growing area for the bank. We’re expanding our ability to support clients with investable assets up to £3 million and help close the Advice Gap in the UK. As part of our broader Affluent segment, this planning-led proposition offers clear and accessible investment options shaped around each client’s needs. Clients benefit from a seamless experience that blends digital channels with adviser support, creating a connected and supportive journey.

Responsibilities

Required Skills

  • Financial planning qualification: A recognised financial planning qualification at RDR Level 4 or above—this is essential. You’ll use your knowledge to offer personalised planning and investment advice that reflects each client’s goals, values, and comfort with risk.
  • Knowledge of financial markets: A working knowledge of financial markets, products, and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to explain multi-layered topics in a way that feels clear and relevant to each client.
  • Digital tools: Ability to use digital tools to support client conversations, paired with thoughtful communication that builds trust and connection.
  • Risk management: A careful approach to identifying and managing risk, while consistently maintaining high standards of compliance.

Highly Valued Skills

  • Experience engaging with internal teams and external networks: To welcome new clients and grow relationships.
  • Broad exposure to Financial Services industry: Especially in retail regulated products and asset management.
  • Familiarity with pensions, investment advice, and UK taxation.
  • Experience managing risk within a client portfolio.
  • Adaptability and curiosity: In a fast-evolving environment.

Location

This role is based in Birmingham, Liverpool, or Manchester.

This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
