About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Drupal Technical Lead to join our client's dynamic web development team. This is a pivotal role that involves leading the technical architecture and development of enterprise-level Drupal-based platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and high-performing. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely with occasional travel to Birmingham, London, Cardiff, or Swansea, providing flexibility and a chance to engage with diverse projects. The position is offered on a one-year fixed-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role, offering stability and career progression within a forward-thinking organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with extensive experience in Drupal development, particularly with Drupal 10 and above. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent professional experience. Certifications related to Drupal or web development technologies will be considered advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in PHP, modern front-end frameworks such as TypeScript, Twig, and Tailwind CSS, and have hands-on experience with source control tools like Git. Knowledge of cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or Azure, and familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, will be highly beneficial. Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor junior team members are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-level Drupal applications, ensuring they meet high standards of security, accessibility, and performance.
- Design and implement complex backend systems utilizing PHP and Drupal 10+ frameworks, integrating modern front-end solutions with TypeScript, Twig, and Tailwind CSS.
- Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, and promoting best practices in development processes.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
- Manage source control and deployment workflows using Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins to ensure streamlined development and release cycles.
- Utilize tools such as Composer, Drush, and DDEV for dependency management and environment setup, ensuring efficient development workflows.
- Support SEO strategies and web accessibility standards to enhance user experience and compliance.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate ongoing maintenance and team knowledge sharing.
- Participate actively in Agile development environments, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and project planning.
