The BCCA is a community-owned and run organisation in the heart of Vauxhall, Lambeth. It promotes the health and wellbeing of local residents, supports intergenerational community life, and provides affordable activities, classes, workshops, and a long-standing community run vegetarian/vegan café.
Role Description
This is a remote, contract Web Developer role focused on designing, building, and maintaining the association’s web presence. The Web Developer will develop user-friendly interfaces, implement responsive front-end designs, and ensure consistent branding across pages and features. Day-to-day tasks include coding and testing website components, optimizing performance, managing integrations, and maintaining security best practices. The role will also involve collaborating with staff to translate program and event information into clear, accessible web content, as well as troubleshooting technical issues and updating the site based on user feedback and organizational needs.

- Strong skills in Front-End Development and Web Design to create responsive, accessible, and visually consistent user interfaces.
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Programming to build, integrate, and maintain secure, scalable web functionality.
- Solid Web Development experience, including working with modern frameworks, version control, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and basic SEO best practices.
- Ability to collaborate remotely, manage deadlines, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to inclusive, user-centered design.
- Relevant education or certifications in computer science, web development, or a related field are beneficial; prior work on non-profit or community-focused projects is a plus.
