About The Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Web Developer to join our Web Development Team at Bible Society. This pivotal role involves developing and maintaining our digital presence, including websites, platforms, and digital products that serve our mission. As a Web Developer, you will play a key role in supporting both new digital initiatives and enhancing existing online services. Your work will span both backend and frontend development, utilizing a range of modern technologies such as Node.js, JavaScript, PHP, HTML, CSS, React, and Next.js. Reporting directly to the Web Development Manager, you will collaborate closely with designers, content creators, and other developers to deliver engaging, accessible, and high-performing digital experiences. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating intuitive digital solutions that resonate with users and support the organization's mission of spreading the Bible's message effectively across digital channels.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a strong background in web development, with proven experience in both frontend and backend technologies. A degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent practical experience will also be considered. Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks such as React and Next.js is essential, along with solid understanding of server-side languages like PHP and Node.js. Experience with HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles is required to ensure seamless user experiences across devices. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, as well as knowledge of web hosting, deployment processes, and security best practices, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning new technologies are also important attributes for this role.
Responsibilities
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining the organization's websites and digital platforms to ensure optimal performance, accessibility, and security.
- Collaborating with the Web Development Manager and cross-functional teams to translate project requirements into technical solutions, adhering to best practices and organizational standards.
- Coding, testing, and debugging web applications, as well as implementing new features and functionalities to enhance user engagement.
- Ensuring that all digital content is optimized for different devices and browsers, providing a consistent user experience.
- Participating in code reviews, contributing to technical documentation, and staying updated on emerging trends and technologies in web development to continually improve our digital offerings.
- Supporting the team in troubleshooting issues and providing technical support for existing platforms.
