Web Developer & Website Support
We’re looking for a Web Developer & Website Support team member to help us develop, manage and maintain our growing portfolio of school and Multi-Academy Trust websites.
This is a varied role combining website development with day-to-day client support. You'll help keep existing websites running smoothly, respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues and make improvements to websites.
You'll also work alongside our design and development team on new website projects.
The role would suit someone with good WordPress and front-end development knowledge who enjoys solving problems and working with clients just as much as building websites.
Day to day activities:
- Providing day-to-day website support to schools and Multi-Academy Trusts
- Responding to client support requests and resolving website issues
- Making content, layout and functionality changes to existing websites
- Building and updating pages and websites
- Working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP
- Troubleshooting WordPress, theme and plugin issues
- Testing plugin and WordPress updates
- Supporting Multisite installations
- Helping maintain website security, performance and reliability
- Investigating and fixing broken functionality
- Creating and modifying WordPress templates
- Working with custom fields and dynamic website content
- Supporting website launches and migrations
- Carrying out accessibility and quality checks
- Helping improve our internal website tools and processes
- Liaising directly with clients when required

What we're looking for:
You'll ideally have experience with:
- WordPress
- HTML and CSS
- Intermediate PHP
- JavaScript
- Responsive web development
- Troubleshooting website issues
- Browser developer tools
- Git/version control
- Website hosting, DNS and SSL basics
Experience with the following would be particularly useful:
- WordPress Multisite
- Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
- WPBakery or similar page builders
- Developing or modifying WordPress plugins
- WordPress hooks, filters and shortcodes
- MySQL/phpMyAdmin
- REST APIs
- Website accessibility/WCAG
- Website performance optimisation
- Website security and malware prevention
- AI-assisted development tools
You don't need to know everything on this list. We're more interested in someone with solid fundamentals who is comfortable investigating a problem and finding a solution.
The person we're looking for:

- A confident problem solver
- Comfortable dealing directly with clients
- Able to explain technical issues
- Organised and able to manage multiple support requests
- Careful and methodical when making changes to live websites
- Happy working independently as well as part of a small team
- Curious and willing to learn new technologies
- Proactive about spotting problems and suggesting improvements
- Comfortable using AI tools responsibly to support their work, while understanding the importance of reviewing, testing and validating AI-generated code and content rather than relying on it without oversight
- Mindful of data protection, confidentiality and security when using AI tools

About Us
We design, build and support websites for schools and Multi-Academy Trusts across the UK. Our work ranges from individual school websites through to large multisite networks, alongside photography, video, branding and digital services.
You'll be joining a small team where you'll have the opportunity to work across a large portfolio of websites and have a genuine influence on how we develop our website platform and support service.
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 FTE, depending on experience
Location: Nottingham / Hybrid
Hours: Full-time or part-time considered
