Web Development Manager

£65,000

Chester – Hybrid (3 days in office)

TrustTech Recruitment are working with a well-established, digitally focused company who are looking for a Web Development Manager to join their team. As a Web Development Manager, you will be working on the ongoing development and improvement of customer-facing web platforms, taking ownership of the development roadmap while leading a small technical team. You’ll work closely with teams across digital, marketing and technology to turn business requirements into effective, scalable web solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of the web development roadmap, ensuring projects remain on track against agreed timescales, resources, and budgets.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across marketing, product, SEO, and conversion teams to understand requirements and define appropriate technical solutions.
  • Assess new development requests, providing realistic estimates and helping stakeholders understand technical options and trade-offs.
  • Identify new technologies, development approaches, and improvements that could enhance website performance and the wider customer journey.
  • Present development priorities, progress, and recommendations to senior stakeholders and decision-making groups.
  • Manage and mentor a small team of web developers, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Establish and maintain strong development standards around code quality, testing, deployment, and platform stability.
  • Provide technical direction across the organisation’s web platforms.
  • Manage external development partners and suppliers, ensuring work meets agreed quality and delivery expectations.
  • Produce clear updates on development progress, priorities, risks, and upcoming activity.

Key Skills Required:

  • Previous experience managing or leading a software/web development team.
  • Strong hands-on technical background within modern.NET development.
  • Good knowledge of SQL Server.
  • Experience with modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality standards.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development and experience estimating, planning, and delivering development projects.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confident communicating technical concepts in clear commercial language.
  • Ability to challenge requirements constructively and recommend alternative approaches where appropriate.
  • Experience with Umbraco or another enterprise-level CMS would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of SEO, CRO, and web analytics would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience within e-commerce, travel, or another high-volume digital environment would be useful.
