Role Overview

The Website Experience Lead is responsible for defining and delivering Abcam's global website experience strategy, driving continuous improvement across all regions and key customer journeys and ensuring website investments generate measurable business value. This role acts as the bridge between customer needs, commercial & portfolio priorities, user experience & usability best practice and digital derlivery. The individual will manage the global website roadmap, prioritize new features, initiatives and improvements based on business impact and ensure regional market requirements are appropriately represented within a globally scalable platform.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Digital Commerce and is part of the Global Marketing organization, and will be an on-site role in Cambridge, UK.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Set the strategic vision and own the global website roadmap, driving customer satisfaction, brand preference, competitive differentiation and revenue growth while balancing global consistency with regional needs.
  • Lead continuous improvement of the end-to-end website experience, using customer insight, journey analytics and UX best practice to optimise usability, accessibility, content and key customer journeys.
  • Own experimentation and personalisation, setting the A/B and multivariate testing roadmap and using behavioural, transactional and commercial data to identify opportunities and demonstrate value.
  • Lead prioritisation, performance and delivery, connecting digital initiatives to commercial outcomes, managing roadmap commitments and clearly reporting performance, progress and value realised to senior leadership.
  • Provide global experience governance and cross-functional leadership, aligning stakeholders around a single strategy while governing site architecture, brand and content consistency, regional flexibility, competitor benchmarking, privacy and accessibility compliance.

Essential Requirements

Degree educated in Marketing, Business or a related discipline, with significant experience leading digital experience, eCommerce or website optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate equally effectively at strategic and execution levels, setting long-term vision while remaining hands-on across roadmaps, optimisation, experimentation, analytics and delivery.
  • Deep expertise in UX, customer journey optimisation, experimentation, personalisation and digital analytics, with strong knowledge of contemporary MarTech and commerce technology ecosystems.
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, using customer, behavioural and transactional data, including AI-enabled approaches, to make decisions, prioritise investment and demonstrate business impact.
  • Proven senior stakeholder leadership and delivery capability, influencing executive and cross-functional teams, managing competing priorities and driving complex global roadmaps through to measurable outcomes.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

· Some global travel required – no more than 10-20%

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in life sciences, biotech or B2B scientific eCommerce
  • Familiarity with complex product catalogues and technical content
