I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Additional Core Competencies
AI & Digital Workflow Fluency
- Confident and regular user of AI tools in day-to-day work — e.g. drafting/iterating product copy, image editing and background/asset generation, banner ideation, generating test variants for A/B trials, and summarising performance data.
- Understands where AI adds real speed (first drafts, repetitive tasks, QA checks) versus where human judgement and brand taste must lead (final creative calls, tone, campaign concept).
- Aware of how AI is changing product discovery — customers and AI shopping assistants increasingly rely on structured, accurate product data (titles, attributes, sizing, materials) rather than just visual browsing, so product data hygiene is a merchandising task, not just an ops one.
- Able to write clear briefs/prompts for AI tools and sense-check output for accuracy and brand fit.
Marketplace Management
- Comfortable managing listings and merchandising across Amazon Seller Central, TikTok Shop, and Debenhams marketplace (and open to adding others — eBay, ASOS Marketplace, OnBuy, Zalando, etc. as the channel mix grows).
- Understands that each marketplace has its own ranking logic and content rules (e.g. Amazon's search- and spec-driven listings vs. TikTok Shop's content- and creator-driven discovery), and merchandises accordingly rather than copy-pasting one approach everywhere.
- Keeps pricing, stock, imagery and promotions consistent across web and marketplace channels.
- Comfortable coordinating with affiliate/creator content for TikTok Shop Live and similar formats, even if a specialist team leads execution.

Visual & Fashion Judgement
- A genuinely strong eye — layout, colour, typography, image selection — that can be demonstrated with a portfolio or before/after examples, not just claimed on a CV.
- Real familiarity with the alternative, rockabilly, gothic subcultures that Hell Bunny serves — this isn't generic "fashion merchandising," it's a specific aesthetic with its own references, and it shows when someone doesn't get it.
- Follows broader fashion and trend cycles and can translate them into on-brand banners and campaign visuals without diluting either brand's identity.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience merchandising an e-commerce website (Shopify)
- Working knowledge of Photoshop, Canva or Figma (or similar) for banner and asset production
- Comfortable in Excel/Google Sheets and a web analytics tool (GA4 or equivalent)
- Experience managing at least one online marketplace (Amazon, TikTok Shop, eBay, etc.)
- Strong written communication and cross-team coordination skills
- A portfolio or examples of merchandising/visual work
Desirable
- Experience merchandising more than one brand simultaneously
- Basic HTML/CSS (enough to troubleshoot banner or page display issues)
- Experience with TikTok Shop
- Interest or background in alternative/subcultural fashion
- Prior use of AI tools in a commercial creative or merchandising context
