Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To develop, implement, and manage digital marketing platform and channels, including the management of the website, social media channels and marketing technology platforms.

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of digital marketing strategies that align with the bank's business objectives and are informed by market research, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product marketing, communications, and IT, to ensure alignment of digital marketing efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Development of compelling and targeted content for various marketing channels, optimizing of online content for search engines to improve organic search visibility, and managing paid search campaigns for driving targeted traffic and conversion goals, as required.
  • Analysis of data to make informed decisions and optimize marketing strategies, use of data analytics tools to measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns.
  • Management of marketing technology platforms, where applicable.
  • Management and updating of digital marketing platform and channels such as website and social media channels, as needed.
  • Development of compelling and targeted content for various marketing channels, inclusive of partner channels and assets, where applicable.

  • For an individual contributor, they will be a subject matter expert within their own discipline and will guide technical direction. They will lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialization to complete assignments. They will train, guide, and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organizational risks, and strategic decisions.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work their team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organization functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business-aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem-solving processes.
  • Seek out, build, and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.

Website Product Owner | Barclays

The Website Product Owner will define and deliver the vision, strategy, and roadmap for PBWM's web estate, managing the websites as a strategic digital product that enhances client experience, supports business growth, and drives digital transformation.

The role will lead PBWM's evolution towards a modern, scalable headless CMS architecture, establishing the platform, governance, and capability required to support reusable content, faster publishing, personalization, and future multi-channel content delivery.

Working across Marketing, Technology, UX, Content, Analytics, SEO, and Compliance, the role will prioritize and optimize the website ecosystem, balancing client needs, commercial objectives, operational efficiency, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Delivery

  • Own the website product vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog, aligned to business, digital, and transformation objectives.
  • Translate client, business, and regulatory requirements into prioritized initiatives that improve engagement, conversion, servicing, and efficiency.

Customer Experience & Optimisation

  • Own end-to-end website journeys, championing customer-centric design, accessibility, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with UX, Analytics, Technology, and Marketing teams to improve usability, personalization, experimentation, and performance.
  • Own and manage the CRO function and roadmap.

Website Transformation & Platform Evolution

  • Lead the primary website transformation initiative – migration to a headless CMS.
  • Define the ongoing digital experience platform roadmap alongside Architecture and Engineering teams.
  • Provide technical leadership across CMS architecture, APIs, templates, components, and integrations to support scalable, future-ready solutions.

Team Leadership & Line Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop website product, content operations, or delivery colleagues as the function evolves, setting clear objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Build capability within the team by upskilling to meet capability gaps, embedding effective ways of working, clear ownership, documentation, and knowledge-sharing.

Content & SEO

  • Partner with Content and Marketing teams to improve content effectiveness, discoverability, and performance across SEO/GEO/AEO.
  • Establish content governance and publishing standards across global markets.

Governance, Risk & Cross-Border Delivery

  • Ensure website activity complies with regulatory, legal, privacy, accessibility, and governance requirements.
  • Work with Compliance, Legal, and Risk to support cross-border digital marketing and jurisdiction-specific requirements, balancing global consistency with local needs.

Performance & Analytics

  • Define and monitor website KPIs, business outcomes, and non-functional requirements, including performance, resilience, security, scalability, and site speed.
  • Use analytics and customer insights to inform prioritization, investment decisions, and ongoing optimization.

Essential Experience

  • Experience as a Website Product Owner, Digital Product Manager, or Digital Experience Product Owner within Financial Services.
  • Must have: Significant hands-on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM Sites).
  • Must have: Experience with Headless CMS platforms and architectures.
  • Experience managing large-scale public websites within regulated environments.
  • Strong product management expertise across strategy, roadmap ownership, Agile delivery, backlog management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep understanding of digital customer journeys, UX, content strategy, SEO, conversion optimization, and web analytics.
  • Proven people leadership and capability-building experience.

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Experience managing global, multi-jurisdictional websites and cross-border marketing requirements.
  • Experience leading website transformation and modernization programs.
  • Knowledge of SEO/GEO/AEO, personalisation, Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Target, and Adobe Journey Optimizer.
  • Experience managing agencies, technology partners, and vendors.

This role will preferably be based in London.
