LOCATION: Gyle Shopping Centre
SHIFT PATTERN: Saturday & Sunday every Weekend, 16 hours per week
PAY RATE: Competitive
Role Overview And Purpose
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Cleaner to join our team at The Gyle Shopping Centre. This weekend role is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene throughout the centre, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers, retailers, and colleagues.
The successful candidate will work Saturday and Sunday and undertake a range of cleaning duties across public areas, food court spaces, and welfare facilities using both manual cleaning methods and mechanical floor cleaning equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain public areas throughout The Gyle Shopping Centre
- Clear, clean, and sanitise tables and seating areas within the food court and customer dining areas
- Empty litter bins and remove waste in line with site procedures
- Clean and sanitise customer and staff toilet facilities, including wash basins, fixtures, mirrors, and floors
- Operate floor cleaning machinery safely and effectively to maintain high presentation standards
- Sweep, mop, and maintain entrances, walkways, and communal areas
- Respond promptly to spillages and reactive cleaning requirements to ensure a safe environment
- Replenish cleaning consumables including soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels
- Set up, maintain, and store cleaning equipment and supplies appropriately
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or health and safety concerns to the Supervisor
- Support Team Leaders and Supervisors as required to ensure excellent service delivery
- Complete all mandatory training and comply with company policies and procedures

Requirements
- Previous cleaning experience is desirable, preferably within a retail, shopping centre, or commercial environment
- Experience operating floor cleaning machinery is advantageous, although full training will be provided
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use initiative and prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards
- Friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Additional weekday shifts and overtime opportunities are regularly available to support business requirements, holiday cover, and peak trading periods
- Flexibility to work additional hours when required is desirable
