About The Role
This Welder 2026 position in Burslem offers full-time temporary work with Pertemps Stoke on Trent, paying between £14.50 and £15.00 hourly. The role follows a dayshift pattern: Monday through Thursday, 8:00am until 5:00pm, plus Friday, 8:00am to 1:00pm. Duties involve MIG welding mild steel up to 12mm, reading engineering drawings, measuring parts to specified tolerances, and using hand and air tools safely. Candidates must produce fabricated components meeting customer specifications while maintaining accuracy across substantial jig work volumes. Completing production documentation correctly is also required. Applicants need proven welding experience within sheet metal fabrication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to sustain quality output over extended periods.

We are currently seeking an experienced Welder to join a well-established sheet metal fabrication company based in Tunstall.
The Role
The successful candidate will be required to work on significant volumes of jig work for sustained periods while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy. You will be responsible for producing fabricated components in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- MIG weld mild steel up to 12mm thickness.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Measure components and work to specified tolerances.
- Operate hand tools and air tools safely and effectively.
- Complete production paperwork accurately and maintain tidy records.
- Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and safety.
- Carry out any other duties required by the Production Team.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' MIG welding experience.
- Fully experienced in MIG welding mild steel up to 12mm.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings.
- Competent in accurate measuring and working to tolerances.
- Skilled in the use of hand and air tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work efficiently within a manufacturing environment.

Desirable
- TIG welding experience, particularly stainless steel.
- Experience fabricating bespoke or small-batch items from scratch.
- Strong fabrication skills with the ability to work independently.
Weld Test
All successful applicants will be required to complete a practical weld test prior to employment. This may be carried out on the interview date or at a pre-arranged time.
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate of £14.00 - £15.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
