Your role

As a Welder, your mission is to produce high-quality cryogenic refrigeration cylinder assemblies that meet ASME, quality, and production requirements, supporting safe, reliable, and on-time delivery to manufacturing operations. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, with the potential to transition to a regular full-time position based on performance, attendance, and business needs. You will report to the Production Team Leader.

Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

You Will

  • Produce compliant assemblies Deliver completed welded and soldered assemblies that consistently meet ASME standards, engineering specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Achieve production output targets Ensure completed units meet daily and scheduled production goals while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Ensure product integrity and reliability Produce assemblies that pass all required inspections, functional tests, and helium leak testing on first submission.
  • Maintain in-process quality control Ensure defects are identified and corrected during production so that nonconforming product is prevented from advancing to the next stage.
  • Maintain dimensional and mechanical accuracy Deliver machined and assembled components that meet specified tolerances, fit, and performance requirements.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of assemblies Deliver assemblies that meet defined cleanliness and contamination-control standards required for final testing and customer acceptance.
  • Use and protect calibrated inspection equipment Ensure inspection equipment is used correctly, and results are reliable, traceable, and compliant with quality system requirements.
  • Support safe, efficient, and compliant operations Perform all work in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards to support uninterrupted and compliant manufacturing operations.

You have Technical school training in TIG (GTAW) welding or a minimum of 2+ years of hands-on TIG welding experience sufficient to competently perform the role.

Relevant Previous Experience

  • Practical experience performing TIG welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Experience reading and working from assembly drawings.
  • Prior exposure to ASME standards is required, with certification expected as outlined below.

Knowledge Areas and Skills

  • Basic GTAW (TIG welding) skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety procedures, and quality documentation written in English, and to communicate effectively in English regarding job-related matters.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail with basic math skills.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Workmanship Standard 180.
  • Physical ability to perform required job functions, including lifting 50–75 lbs.
  • Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles (preferred).
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems (preferred).
  • Experience with Orbital Welding (preferred).
  • Experience using a Welding Lathe (preferred).

Certifications and Testing Requirements

  • Operators must be ASME certified, or be trained by an ASME-certified welder, with the expectation of achieving certification within a reasonable time frame.
  • Successful completion of a welding qualification test is required.

Job location

This position is based in Haverhill, MA and supports site-based, fast-paced manufacturing operations as a member of the Cylinder Assembly team. The role works primarily on the Cylinder Assembly flow line producing Cryogenic Refrigerator Cylinders, with additional responsibility for welding Vacuum Vessels, Helium Manifolds, Flex Lines, and Accessories as required to meet production demand.

The job requires regular collaboration with production team members and coordination with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing Support functions to meet production schedules and quality standards. Work priorities are production-driven and may shift based on operational needs, requiring flexibility and responsiveness.

The role directly impacts key operational measures including throughput, quality, first-pass yield, and schedule adherence. Work is performed in a manufacturing environment governed by safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
