Welder, Luton, Bedfordshire

As a Welder, you will assist production at the Luton plant by welding individual parts and sub-assemblies using various welding techniques in accordance with specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.

What you will do:

  • Carry out welding of components in line with specifications, drawings and procedures
  • Set up and prepare weld surfaces and equipment
  • Ensure all welding equipment is inspected and calibrated prior to use
  • Monitor consumables and support stock control activities
  • Maintain rod stores and record temperature/humidity levels in line with procedures
  • Log work using ERP systems (e.g. Epicor) to maintain booking compliance
  • Meet production routing times and customer requirements
  • Maintain high standards of quality, health & safety and housekeeping (5S)
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives

What you will need:

  • Time served welding apprenticeship
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a coded welder in an engineering environment
  • Ability to weld to coded standards
  • Experience with TIG (GTAW), MMA/SMAW and MAG (GMAW) welding processes
  • Ability to work with carbon and stainless steels across a range of thicknesses
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Previous experience in torch or induction brazing would be desirable

  • Mon – Thu 06.00 – 14.15 14.15 – 22.30
  • Friday 06.00 – 12.00 12.00 – 18.00
