Welder / Fabricator
Tarmac Topblock | Alfreton, Derbyshire
(Overtime Available) Monday to Friday | 8:00am - 4:00pm
About The Role
Tarmac Topblock is looking for an experienced and motivated Welder / Fabricator to join our Engineering Team at our Alfreton manufacturing site.
This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance and reliability of plant equipment across the site. You'll be involved in repair work, fabrication projects, shutdown activities and working closely with the wider engineering team to keep operations running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and refurbishment of bogies, frames and production equipment
- General fabrication and welding work to a high standard
- Manufacturing and modifying components as required
- Assisting mechanical engineers with maintenance and repair activities
- Supporting planned shutdown preparation and execution
- Carrying out site improvement projects
- Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
About You
We are looking for a confident self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Welder / Fabricator within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Competent in at least one of the following welding processes:
- MIG Welding
- TIG Welding
- Stick (MMA) Welding
- Ability to read drawings and fabricate components accurately
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Strong health and safety awareness
- Flexible approach and willingness to support maintenance activities across the site

Desirable Requirements
- Competence in all three welding disciplines: MIG, TIG and Stick (MMA)
- Experience supporting mechanical maintenance activities
- Experience working within heavy industry, manufacturing or production environments
What We Offer
- Competitive salary of £38,000 per year
- Monday to Friday working pattern
- 8:00am to 4:00pm day shift
- 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays
