Compensation: £30,769 - £31,289 Dependent on Experience + Benefits

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Build, repair and restore the vehicles that help keep our armed forces mission ready.

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Welder at Catterick, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.

The role

As a Welder, you'll play a crucial role in the refurbishment, repair, and maintenance of heavy military vehicles and equipment that support the UK's defence capability. This is an opportunity to put your welding and fabrication expertise to work on complex engineering projects where the quality of your craftsmanship has a direct impact on operational readiness and safety.

Day-to-day you'll be required to:

  • Perform MIG, TIG, Arc, and Oxy-Acetylene welding activities on heavy vehicles and equipment.
  • Carry out fabrication, repair, grinding, blasting, and finishing tasks to the required technical standards.
  • Inspect equipment and identifying defects, damage, or repair requirements.
  • Operate workshop equipment and tools safely, including lifting and handling equipment where authorised.
  • Maintain accurate job records while following quality, safety, and engineering procedures.

The role is based onsite at Catterick, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
