Compensation: £53,599 + Benefits

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Shape the Future of Defence Engineering

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Welder at our Rosyth site.

The Role

As a Welder, you’ll be at the heart of one of the most critical defence projects in the world. You’ll work on the manufacturing of 22 tactical missile tube assemblies as part of the Common Missile Compartment (CMC) project for the UK Successor and US Ohio Class replacement submarine programmes. This is your chance to contribute to national security while developing your skills in a dynamic, high-tech environment.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

  • Execute welding tasks using SMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SAW, and Arc Air Gouging processes to exacting standards.
  • Operate welding equipment safely, setting up and maintaining plant in line with procedures.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds to meet project specifications.
  • Use digital and thermal devices for temperature monitoring and manage pre-heating equipment.
  • Perform daily machine checks, report faults, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at Rosyth Dockyard, Fife. You’ll work 39 hours per week on a rotational shift pattern of days and nights (12-hour shifts).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
