Salary: £54,490+ depending on skills and experience

Job Description:
Working at the forefront of the UK’s artillery manufacturing resurgence, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant defence programmes that support both UK and international customers. As a Welding Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety and compliance of advanced manufacturing and fabrication activities, helping to bring multi-faceted engineering designs into production. Working across design, operations and quality functions, you will support the delivery of critical products that strengthen defence capability and industrial growth.

Core duties:
- Investigate welding defects and technical queries, collaborating with manufacturing teams to improve processes and working instructions
- Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory and quality requirements
- Review welding and NDT non-conformances, supporting root cause analyses, corrective actions and successful resolution
- Support continuous improvement goals, identifying opportunities to enhance welding quality, efficiency and manufacturing performance
- Maintain accurate welding documentation, certification and traceability records while coordinating qualifications, inspections and external compliance activities

Essential Skills:
- Demonstrable experience developing and qualifying Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) within regulated manufacturing environments
- Practical knowledge of welding coordination activities and compliance with ISO 3834, PED or equivalent quality standards
- Acquired experience working within defence, aerospace, pressure vessel, oil and gas, or similarly highly regulated industries
- Considerable technical understanding of TIG and PAW welding processes, with experience supporting highly detailed fabrication activities
- Relevant engineering qualification in welding, manufacturing or mechanical engineering; experience with titanium or other high-specification materials highly desirable
The Manufacturing Engineering Team:
Supporting the restart of the UK’s artillery manufacturing capability, this team plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, safety-critical products for UK and international defence customers. Working across engineering, operations and quality disciplines, the team you will join drives manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement and technical innovation, ensuring robust welding standards and production processes underpin the delivery of strategically important defence capabilities.
