Job Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen; do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people who have served in the armed forces and their families? We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team and independently, who is compassionate and enthusiastic about supporting the armed forces’ community. This role is part-time, on a Fixed contract, working 21 hours a week.
If you have family and carers welfare experience, this role may be for you.
DMWS is an international charity that has been providing medical welfare support to the armed forces community for over 80 years.
Role Overview
Hospital and Community Based working with both serving and veteran personnel on a medical pathway primarily in the secondary healthcare. Your role will be to help individuals and families from the entire military community with a particular focus on hard-to-reach veterans, their families, and carers. Many veterans are unaware of the help available through the Armed Forces Covenant, and some find it difficult to ask for help.
All DMWS Armed Forces Welfare Officers need to be prepared to be mobile and deployable. Additionally, you should be willing to work flexibly to meet job demands. In return, you will be working within a dynamic organisation, making a real difference, and receiving great benefits.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
