Welfare Officer | Harrow | Immediate Start

A large, inclusive and diverse primary school in Pinner, Harrow is seeking a caring, organised and reliable Welfare Officer to join its dedicated team on an immediate start basis, initially until February half term.

This Welfare Officer role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children's wellbeing and who can provide a calm, reassuring presence throughout the school day. The Welfare Officer will be responsible for first aid, administering prescribed medication, maintaining medical records and supporting pupils with ongoing health needs.

Key Responsibilities | Welfare Officer

  • Act as the first point of contact for pupils who are unwell or injured
  • Provide first aid and administer prescribed medication
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical and welfare records
  • Support pupils with asthma, diabetes, allergies and other ongoing medical needs
  • Maintain pupil care plans and individual healthcare information
  • Liaise sensitively with parents, carers, staff and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain the medical room and first aid supplies
  • Organise health visits including vaccinations, vision screening and health programmes
  • Complete injury reports and maintain accurate medical records
  • Support pupils requiring intimate care or additional assistance
  • Follow safeguarding, confidentiality and child protection procedures

Requirements | Welfare Officer

  • Bachelor’s degree from a UK university
  • Relevant first aid qualification, such as Paediatric First Aid (essential)
  • Experience working with children in a school, healthcare or welfare setting
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
  • Caring, patient and empathetic approach
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Experience administering medication or managing healthcare plans is desirable
