The Department

Aston Villa Football Club are building a stage for magical memories in our redevelopment and expansion of Villa Park to create a world class sports and entertainment venue and a thriving community hub. As well as our Villa Park stadium redevelopment; we have also recently opened our new multi-use space, the Sports Illustrated Warehouse. This is a unique, purpose-built live music and events venue which also transforms into our official matchday fan zone.

As the Club keeps growing, our Safeguarding Department are committed to creating a safe environment for everyone who comes to Villa Park.

The Roles

We have some exciting opportunities for a Welfare Support Officers to join the Safeguarding Team. We have roles which will work across both matchdays and events at Villa Park as follows:

  • Working at our Women’s First Team home matches at Villa Park and Hednesford (our Women’s Team secondary venue). You will need to be available for at least 80% of our Women’s First Team home matches which take place across evenings and weekends. There may also be an opportunity to get involved with some of our Men’s First Team home matches too.

  • Working at other events which take place at both Villa Park and our Sports Illustrated Warehouse (opposite Villa Park). You will need to be available to work flexibly in line with our events schedule, which will take place across weekdays, weekends and evenings and will be communicated to you in advance.

In these roles, no two days will be the same, you will be the first point of contact and respond to any safeguarding and welfare incidents within your designated location and resolve immediately wherever possible and escalating where needed. You will be a vital part of our Matchday and Venue teams, attending briefs and debrief and ensuring that real-time, accurate updates are provided to the control room and that thorough incident reports are completed post event.

The Person

You will need to be at least 18 years old (to meet Safeguarding requirements) and you will need to have experience of working at events, ideally in safeguarding and welfare.

You will need to be able to deliver professional and exceptional customer service whilst solving problems and remaining calm and focused under pressure. You will meet a wide range of people in this role so you will need fantastic interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, empathise and communicate with different people. Experience of working in a similar role in events or a sporting stadium would also be ideal.
