Wellbeing Lead

Salary Range: £35,000 - £38,500 Per annum
Location: ON-SITE, London, UK (require travel flexibility)
Employment Type: Full-time
Working Days & Hours: Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM

Elizabeth School of London work in Partnership with Bath Spa University, Canterbury Christ Church University, St Mary University, Newcastle College Group and the University of Bolton.

About the Role

The Elizabeth School of London is seeking a Wellbeing Officer to join our Leicester campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support to our students throughout their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the Wellbeing team in developing and implementing a proactive and responsive student wellbeing strategy.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Monitor trends and challenges in student wellbeing to inform departmental initiatives and resource allocation.
  • Lead the Wellbeing Officers in several other campus locations and look after the day-to-day running of the wellbeing department for staff under your supervision.

Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and support the wellbeing team to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Coordinate team training and professional development to maintain best practices.
  • Manage workloads and ensure effective team performance through regular meetings, evaluations, and feedback.

Student Support & Engagement

  • Oversee the delivery of one-to-one and group wellbeing support for students facing personal, social, and emotional challenges.
  • Develop and evaluate engaging workshops and events to promote mental health awareness and resilience.
  • Work with student representatives to ensure services reflect student needs and feedback.

Collaboration & Partnerships

  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments, including Safeguarding, Academic Support, and Counselling Services.
  • Develop partnerships with external agencies to expand resources available to students, such as mental health services, housing support, and healthcare.

Crisis Management & Safeguarding

  • Lead on complex cases involving safeguarding or critical incidents, providing clear direction and support.
  • Ensure all team members are well-versed in safeguarding policies and protocols.

Service Development & Evaluation

  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of wellbeing initiatives and interventions through regular data collection and analysis.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to senior leadership for service enhancement.
  • Drive innovation by identifying gaps in provision and proposing creative solutions.

We are looking for people who have

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Psychology, Education, or a related subject.
  • Willingness to undertake Mental Health First Aid training.
  • Experience or strong knowledge of Higher Education and diverse student wellbeing needs.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Empathy, sensitivity, and a student-centred approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of mental health, counselling techniques, safeguarding, and crisis intervention.
  • Ability to manage confidential matters with discretion.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Mental Health, or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in Student Services, Wellbeing, or a similar Higher Education role.
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities, mental health needs, SpLD, and counselling requirements.
  • Knowledge of disability legislation, funding, and relevant policy frameworks.
  • Experience in risk assessment, crisis management, and student support/referral processes.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
