About Us
We’re Blind Veterans UK, a charity that helps vision-impaired ex-service people from every generation rebuild their lives after their sight has been affected. Founded in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to help the many veterans losing their sight during the First World War, we have over a century of experience providing the very best care and support.
Since then, we’ve supported tens of thousands of vision-impaired veterans, helping them regain their independence and providing the tools, skills and confidence they need to lead fulfilling, active lives.
We’re one transformational team that believes every vision-impaired veteran should be able to lead the life they choose.
We are now looking for someone to join our Wellbeing Support Team on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week on a five week rolling rota, covering days, evenings and weekends.

The Role
As part of our Wellbeing Support Team, you will help deliver engaging wellbeing programmes that promote independence, confidence and social connection for blind veterans and other beneficiaries at our Rustington Centre.
Researching, planning, organising and delivering a wide range of holistic and therapeutic activities, you will support rehabilitation programmes and create opportunities that encourage participation, accessibility and positive wellbeing.
You will also provide practical and emotional support, helping members make the most of their time at the Centre while responding to their individual needs.
Additionally, you will:
- Manage the in-house triage system and support accessibility requirements
- Build links with local organisations to enhance the wellbeing offer
- Support rehabilitation sessions for individuals and groups
- Demonstrate equipment and supervise rehabilitation practice sessions
- Gather member feedback to help shape and improve wellbeing programmes
About You
To join our Wellbeing Support Team, you will need:
- Experience of working with vulnerable people to maximise their wellbeing
- Demonstrable experience of health promotion and/or activity
- Experience of working in an environment where it has been necessary to inspire and motivate people
- Knowledge of or willingness to undergo training relating to the field of vision impairment
- Knowledge of relevant and appropriate rehabilitative activities for diverse groups
- An understanding of the risk assessment process
- The willingness to travel nationally on occasion
- Nationally recognised qualifications in fields such as health and social care, rehabilitation, sports, exercise, recreation, IT, art or similar at Level 3
