Summary of the Role
We are recruiting a reliable, motivated, and dynamic Wellbeing Worker to join the Reading team on a part-time basis.
This role is critical in ensuring continuity of high-quality, person-centred support, helping people to access the right support for their mental health and wellbeing.
Working directly with people who may be experiencing mental health challenges and social disadvantage, you will promote empowerment, choice, and independence, supporting individuals to lead their own journey towards stability and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Partnership & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Network Rail, GTR, BTP, station staff, and local voluntary and statutory agencies.
- Participate in joint briefings, debriefs, and information-sharing to ensure coordinated multi-agency support.
- Represent Together positively at all times, helping partners understand the function and scope of the Wellbeing Platform.
- Contribute to building a compassionate, inclusive culture across the transport network.

Service Environment & Operational Duties
- Ensure the Hub is clean, organised, welcoming, and safe at all times, following Network Rail standards.
- Carry out routine checks of the Hub space and equipment, ensuring everything is working correctly.
- Report any maintenance, environmental, or health and safety issues immediately to the Deputy Manager, Network Rail contacts, or relevant teams.
- Restock materials, maintain signage, and ensure the space remains presentable for staff, partners, and service users.
- Use quieter periods to complete administrative, operational, and service-support tasks, ensuring efficient use of working hours.
Recording & Reporting
- Record all interactions, assessments, and outcomes accurately and promptly using Together’s digital systems.
- Complete initial assessments, referral forms, support notes, and any required follow-up.
- Contribute to performance monitoring, evaluation processes, and identification of good practice.
- Maintain strict data protection, confidentiality, and safeguarding requirements.
Administrative Duties
- Undertake general administrative tasks, including responding to emails, updating resources, completing training, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Prepare materials or reports required for supervision, team meetings, or Hub operations.
- Support the Deputy Manager with any additional service-related administration when required.

Service Development
- Support the evaluation of the pilot by sharing insights, data, and feedback from service users and partners.
- Participate in reflective practice, case discussions, team meetings, and supervision.
- Undertake mandatory and role-specific training, including Network Rail and BTP modules.
- Contribute ideas to improve accessibility, efficiency, and impact of the Wellbeing Platform.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential
- Minimum of GCSE or Level II qualification in English, or equivalent
- Experience of working alongside individuals experiencing mental distress and in partnership with them
- Able to establish and maintain a safe environment
- Willing and able to collaborate with colleagues and other organisations
- Basic competence in the use of email and word processing software and computerised systems for service user records and reports
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills relating to housing, welfare benefits, education and relationships
- Able to produce clear records and reports in English
Desirable
- Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals gained from paid work and/or voluntary and/or life experience
- Lived experience of mental distress
- NVQ Level II in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
