Role Description
This full-time, on-site role is based in a single placement therapeutic home in Leicester, supporting one child or young person with complex needs in a stable and structured environment. Senior Residential Childcare Workers will provide daily care, emotional support, and guidance, helping the young person develop life skills, resilience, and positive routines.

Responsibilities

- Planning and delivering engaging activities
- Maintaining accurate records
- Implementing care plans
- Working in line with trauma-informed and safeguarding practices
- Collaborating with external professionals
- Attending meetings
- Contributing to reports
- Supporting the home to maintain its GOOD Ofsted rating
- Acting as role models
- Providing leadership on shifts
- Mentoring colleagues
- Upholding a supportive, professional culture within the home
Qualifications
- Experience in residential childcare or similar settings, with a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Ability to build trusting, professional relationships with children and young people, demonstrating empathy, patience, and consistent boundaries.
- Strong communication, report writing, and record-keeping skills, including the ability to work effectively with colleagues, families, and external agencies.
- Competence in planning and facilitating structured activities and routines that support emotional, social, and educational development.
- Resilience and emotional stability to manage challenging situations, including de-escalation, crisis support, and reflective practice.
- Leadership skills to oversee shifts, support team members, and contribute to maintaining high standards of care in line with Ofsted expectations.
- Relevant qualification in childcare or social care (e.g., Level 3 or above in Residential Childcare or equivalent), or willingness to work towards this.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to use digital systems for care planning, recording, and communication.
- Flexibility to work a rota including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as required.
- Enhanced suitability checks (such as an enhanced DBS) and right to work in the UK.
