WEU Communications Intern - Opella

Location: Reading, United Kingdom

Duration: 12-Month Industrial Placement

Contract Type: Student Internship

Grade: Intern

Hybrid Role

Important: Applicants must currently be in full-time education and remain enrolled as a student through to September 2027.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Create engaging internal communications that keep employees informed, connected, and inspired.
  • Source and develop stories from across the Western Europe region for publication on internal channels, including newsletters and the intranet.
  • Support the creation and delivery of content across internal communication platforms.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating quarterly employee meetings and other engagement events.
  • Support external communications activities, including drafting materials and helping to share stories externally.
  • Work with external communications agencies to amplify Opella news, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple countries, functions, and cultures to support communications projects.

About You

Key Requirements

  • Currently studying towards a degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Must remain in full-time education through September 2027.
  • Excellent written communication and storytelling skills.
  • Strong interest in communications, media, content creation, and employee engagement.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across different teams and countries.
  • Proactive, curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a dynamic environment.

What Will Help You Stand Out

  • Experience writing for university publications, blogs, newsletters, or social media channels.
  • Interest in healthcare, consumer brands, or corporate communications.
  • Experience organising events, projects, or campaigns.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
