Senior Whole Energy Forecasting Analyst (Contract)
📍 UK Remote with Occasional Travel to Warwick
📅 6-month Contract Opportunity
⚡ Energy Systems | Forecasting | Modelling | Net Zero
🌍 An exciting opportunity for an experienced Energy Analyst, Energy Modeller, Forecasting Specialist, or Whole Systems Analyst to play a key role in shaping the UK's future energy system and supporting the transition to Net Zero.
We're partnering with a leading organisation operating at the heart of the UK energy sector to recruit a Senior Energy Forecasting Analyst. This is a highly influential role focused on developing forecasting methodologies, whole-system modelling capabilities, and strategic planning assumptions that will support regional and national energy planning across Great Britain.
Why This Role is Exciting
This is far more than a traditional analytics position. You'll be helping to build and develop the modelling frameworks that inform future energy investment decisions, decarbonisation strategies, and regional energy planning across multiple energy vectors including electricity, hydrogen, and biomethane. The successful candidate will work with stakeholders across government, regulators, network operators, and industry leaders, helping ensure future energy infrastructure is planned effectively and efficiently.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the development of forecasting methodologies and planning assumptions across multiple energy sectors and technologies.
- Delivering whole-system modelling and regional energy pathway analysis covering supply, demand, and future energy scenarios.
- Developing modelling frameworks that integrate data from multiple sources and sectors into consistent forecasting outputs.
- Analysing energy demand and supply trends across electricity, hydrogen, biomethane, heat, transport, industry, and consumer sectors.
- Leading technical engagement with industry stakeholders, distribution network operators, regulators, and subject matter experts.
- Researching emerging technologies, market developments, policy changes, and modelling approaches to improve forecasting capability.
- Translating complex modelling outputs into meaningful insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Supporting the development of integrated modelling architecture and data-driven decision-making frameworks.
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues within the wider modelling and forecasting team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
